MORNING LINES SET FOR DEXTER CUP AT FREEHOLD

FREEHOLD, NJ - - Post positions were drawn today for the 48th edition of Saturday’s Dexter Cup Final at Freehold Raceway.

Drawing post position one was Manfinity, who won his elimination in 1:59.1 and will be driven by George Brennan.  Manfinity, the morning line favorite at 5-2 is trained by Larry Rathbone.

Budget Gap, an elimination winner at nearly 50-1, drew post position six and is listed at 9-2.   Budget Gap, the Kelly Stackowicz trained gelding, will be guided by Rod Allen.

Coupled in the race are the Ray Schnittker trained entry of New Hampshire Boy with Jeff Gregory and Bamboo Yankee with Ray Schnittker driving.  New Hampshire Boy drew post position four and Bamboo Yankee drew post five and are listed as second choice at 3-1. 

The Tom Fanning trained Sullivan’s Travels drew post two and will be driven by David Miller at morning line odds of 10-1. 

Drawing post three was Rovaniemi with Steve Smith driving.  Trained by Karen Garland, Rovaneimi is listed at 8-1.

Rounding out the field are Light Headed, post seven, trained and driven by Todd Schadel
at 15-1.  Drawing post eight (12-1) is Trond Smedshammer driven and trained Cumulus.

The Dexter Cup is the first race on the road to the Hambletonian.

The Dexter Cup first started out at Roosevelt Raceway in 1960 as a one and 1/16 mile race until 1965 when the distance was shortened to the mile race it is today. With the closing of Roosevelt in 1987, the Dexter moved to Yonkers Raceway until 1992 when it moved to its current home of Freehold Raceway.
