MONMOUTH, NJ MAN WINS FREEHOLD HANDICAPPING CONTEST
FREEHOLD, NJ – John Norton, of
Fort Monmouth
,
New Jersey
defeated 59 fellow handicappers and won the Freehold Raceway Thoroughbred
Handicapping Contest, which was held on Friday, August 15.
This marks the second time Norton has won a
contest held at Freehold, winning the first time in November, 2006.
Norton finished with a bankroll of $ 608.50 to take the top prize of $ 3,450.
The nearest challenger was Ricky Zimmer of
New York
,
NY
who accumulated a bankroll of
$ 558.50. That was good enough
for second place prize money of $ 1,725.
Also earning prize money were: James Tepedino of
Staten Island
,
NY
, who took the third place prize of $ 828. with a bankroll of $ 520.50, Anthony
Doino of Wall, NJ finished fourth ($470.50 bankroll, $552. prize) and William
Stanton of Union City, NJ ($446.50 bankroll, $345. prize.)
In addition his winnings, Norton gained entry into the 2009 Horseplayer World
Series in
Las Vegas
